[:es]According to a research carried out by the company together with European transport companies and specialists in logistics in the sector, the use of natural gas for vehicles (NGV) is more viable and faster to implement than electricity in replacement of diesel, which has more and more restrictions in that continent.
In this sense, Iveco has always differed from other manufacturers that opt for electric trucks, developing its own range of vehicles powered by natural gas, ranging from the Daily to heavy trucks, with three families of engines, with powers from 130 to 400 CV and load capacities from 3.5 to 40 tons.
For the Italian firm, NGV has a good distribution and supply infrastructure in the region, in addition to low prices, which helps to keep transport costs at an acceptable level, instead of having to develop an entire filling network for electric units. Another point that stands out Iveco is that currently the trucks powered by natural gas already offer a sufficient autonomy and performance to be operated in any item of cargo, from urban distribution to long distance.
As an example, the Stralis NP of 460 HP has a range greater than 1.000 kilometers, with two tanks with a capacity of 400 kg of gas each. Compared to the conventional diesel variant, the NP emits 10% less CO2 and 50% less NOx.
