[:es]El gigante de cruceros Carnival Corporation anunció que ha firmado otro contrato de construcción para un segundo buque de crucero propulsado con gas natural licuado (GNL) para su marca P&O Cruises con el astillero alemán Meyer Werft.
El buque está previsto que sea entregado en el año 2022.
Al igual que en el anterior pedido de un buque gemelo realizado para P&O Cruises que se entregará en 2020, este segundo buque será el crucero más grande que se construirá específicamente para el mercado británico. Desplazará 180,000 toneladas brutas y tendrá capacidad para albergar aproximadamente a 5.200 pasajeros en camas bajas. Ambos barcos se abanderarán en el Reino Unido.
Este nuevo buque forma parte de la agresiva estrategia de expansión de la flota de Carnival Corporation con 19 nuevos barcos programados para ser entregados entre 2018 y 2022 para mantener el ritmo de la creciente demanda de cruceros.
Este último buque será construido por Meyer Werft en su astillero de Papenburg, Alemania, y contará con un exclusivo diseño que lo hará un ‘cruceros ecológico’ y será un buque de última generación impulsadas por gas natural licuado (LNG) en todos sus motores, lo que reducirá significativamente las emisiones al medio ambiente al disponer de la tecnología de combustible más avanzada de la industria naviera.
En total, Carnival Corporation tiene acuerdos vigentes para la construcción de 19 nuevos barcos que se entregarán entre 2018 y 2022. Incluidos en esos estos están los ocho cruceros propulsados con GNL contratados con Meyer Werft y su astillero Meyer Turku en Finlandia. De los buques propulsados con GNL, dos son para AIDA Cruises con fechas de entrega previstas en 2018 y 2021, dos para Costa Cruceros con fechas de entrega previstas en 2019 y 2021, dos para P&O Cruises UK con fechas de entrega previstas en 2020 y 2022 y dos para Carnival Cruise Líne con las fechas de entrega previstas en 2020 y 2022.

Actualmente, Carnival Corporation opera 103 barcos en 10 marcas con capacidad para transportar 231.000 pasajeros.

This new 180,000 GRT ship will operate 100% with LNG and join P&O Cruises (UK) in 2022, following the arrival of it’s sister ship in 2020.
Rostock based Neptun Werft GmbH, a subsidiary of Meyer Werft GmbH, will build and deliver large floating engine room units for these ships. These units include the main engine rooms and the LNG tank compartment with all associated equipment, systems and outfitting. Both new ships will be registered in the UK.
Both vessels, with industry-first “green-cruising” design, will enter service with dual-fuel engines utilizing LNG for power in port and at sea, with cleaner air emissions and improved air quality.
The new ship is part of Carnival Corporation’s ongoing fleet enhancement strategy with 19 new ships scheduled for delivery between 2018 and 2022 – creating excitement in the vacation market and continuing to exceed guest expectations while accelerating demand for cruising, the fastest growing segment in the vacation industry.

In total, Carnival Corporation has agreements in place with leading German and Finnish shipbuilders Meyer Werft and Meyer Turku to build eight LNG-powered cruise ships across four of its 10 global cruise brands with delivery dates between 2018 and 2022 – two for AIDA Cruises with expected delivery dates in 2018 and 2021, two for Costa Cruises with expected delivery dates in 2019 and 2021, two for P&O Cruises UK with expected delivery dates in 2020 and 2022 and two for Carnival Cruise Line with expected delivery dates in 2020 and 2022.[:]
